The Department trains specialists (Bachelors, Specialists and Masters) in the field of “Security of Information and Communication Systems” (6.170101), Masters (8.17010101) and Specialists (7.17010101) of “Security of Information and Communication Systems” as well as Masters (8.17010102) and Specialists (7.17010102) of “State Information Resources Security”. Masters of these majors are trained only at the Department of Information Technology Security in Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics.
The Department offers the retraining courses for specialists in “Security of Information and Communication Systems” and “State Information Resources Security” (course duration – 1 year)
During the training period students gain knowledge in cryptographic and technical information security, get practical skills in providing security for computer systems and networks. The level training of our graduates gives them priority to work for State Authorities, Tax Administration, Border Services, Customs Services, R&D centers, banks, State Service Communication and Information Security, Ukraine Security Agency subdivisions and for non-governmental organizations that require information security.
Curricula: bachelor degree 6.170101 (Security of Information and Communication Systems, they are experts in information security and communication systems), specialists degree 7.17010101 (Security of Information and Communication Systems, with the speciality of an information security engineer) and 7.17010102 (“State Information Resources Security”, with the speciality of an information security engineer), master degree 8.17010101 (Security of Information and Communication Systems, with the speciality of an information security engineer and a researcher; a lecturer) and 8.17010102 (“State Information Resources Security”, with the speciality of an information security engineer and a researcher; a lecturer).
For the last five years four textbooks have been published: “Information security in information and communication systems. Part 1: Cryptographic information security” (I.D. Gorbenko, T.O. Grinenko), “State secrets security” (O.A. Zamula), “Regulatory Support of Information Security. Information security Unified Systems” (O.A. Zamula, I.D. Gorbenko, O.I. Shumov), “Security of Information Systems and Technologies” (V.I. Yesin, O.O. Kuznetsov, L.S. Soroka) and four monographs: “Principles of Statistical Discrete Signals Reception Theory” (V.I. Dolgov), “Public key Infrastructure. Electronic digital signature. Theory and practice” (Y.I. Gorbenko, I.D. Gorbenko)”, “Applied cryptology. Theory. Practice. Applications” (I.D. Gorbenko, Y.I. Gorbenko), Methods and means of random bit sequences generation (A.A. Torba, A.A. Bobkova, Y.I. Gorbenko, V.A. Bobuh).
Since 1998 young scientists of the Department have successfully participated in All-Ukrainian competitions and contests for the best scientific work in Information Security, organized by KhNURE, Dnipropetrovs’k National Mining University, Kyiv Polytechnic University and Lviv Polytechnic University. The results have demonstrated the high educational level of our students.
In 2007 the students A.P. Indenko, P.O. Kravchenko were awarded diplomas for winning the All-Ukrainian academic Information Security competition. In 2008 the student P.O. Kravchenko was awarded the diploma for winning the all-Ukrainian academic competition on “Applied Cryptography” and “Security of information and communication systems”; the students O.O. Kozulina, A.O. Boiko, P.O. Kravchenko were awarded the 1 st place in the All-Ukrainian competition on Information Security. The graduate O.Y. Sirenko was awarded the diploma for his work “Public key infrastructure for international passport system” presented on the Scientific and Technological Creativity Exhibition in the nomination “Software”.
In 2010 the post-graduate and graduate A.O. Nastenko, D.S. Kaidalov, O.V. Kazymyrov were awarded diplomas for winning in the All-Ukrainian “Information security” competition.
In 2011 the students D.S. Kaidalov and D.Y. Hriapin won the All-Ukrainian “Information security” competition and D.Y. Hriapin was awarded the 1 st degree diploma at the All-Ukrainian Student Scientific Conference “Theoretical and practical problems of Physics, Mathematics and Informatics”. The first-year student K.Y. Lysytskyi won the 5 th Kharkiv regional Student Scientific Competition in Humanities and Technical Sciences.
The students’ scientific works of our Department gain high appreciation among Universities of Ukraine.
The students P.O. Kravchenko and O.O. Kozulin’s research works took the first places in the field of “National security and military sciences” in 2007 and 2008. O.V. Kazymyrov’s research work took the third place in the field of “Cybernetics and informatics”; he also won the International Kaspersky Contest the same year.
In 2010 Y. Melnychuk won the Scientific Research Competition in the field of “National security”, and the 3rd year students T.M. Martynenko and O.Y. Yevtuhova won the All-Ukrainian Contest among student research works in the field of “Informatics, Computer Science and Automation” (held at Vinnytsia National Technical University in 2011). The student A.V. Grygoriev won the International Kaspersky Competition inMoscow and in 2011 students A.P. Bubyr, A.O. Nastenko and D.S. Kaidalov took the winning places in the same competition.

- Information security analysts plan and carry out security measures to protect an organization’s computer networks and systems. Their responsibilities are continually expanding as the number of cyberattacks increase. They bring business and information technology (IT) together by understanding the needs and limitations of both.
- Most analysts work for computer companies, consulting firms, and business and financial companies. Many information security analysts work with other members of an information technology department, such as network administrators or computer systems analysts.
